What I Believe
Architecture is creativity within the confines of practicality - design with a purpose and function.
It can be contextual but still be of its time - figuratively reinterpret context, not literally recreate it.
I believe in the power of design. Specifically, I believe that good design can improve our lives and our environment; enhancing learning in schools, quickening recoveries in hospitals, increasing productivity in our workplaces, creating more energy efficient buildings and even reducing crime.
I also believe that good design doesn’t start with a subjective style. It should instead come from a more objective concept; a central idea that drives the design in all three dimensions (buildings are three dimensional, and are better when designed that way).
Finally, I believe presentation is critical. A strong concept that is well executed and beautifully rendered can sell an idea and create enthusiasm for a project.
